wal mart always pays more than minimum wage... even at their lowest positions. starting pay there varies between $7.00 - $10.00 depending on the position. most minors are hired as cashiers because that area of the store is under constant supervision. not because they need the supervision, but because of EXTREMELY strict state laws, they can only work a certain number of hours, and have to leave by a certain time. in order to make sure wal mart doesn't get fined for labor laws, most minors are put on the front end. on the sales floor associates are virtually unsupervised for a majority of the day. therefore, they are responsible for their own lunches, breaks, start and finish time. obviously it's all tracked, but with an adult there are no laws about how many hours you can and cannot work. wal mart cant risk a minor being irresponsible and working over the state allowed amount of hours. starting pay for cashiers is around $7.50 an hour.

As a walmart slave, and involved in the hiring process at my store, we are not allowed to discuss the pay. But I can tell you that it depends. At 16, you can only work so many hours a week adn you can't work past 8pm. You probably don't have any work history to help boost your starting pay... so it will be whatever the minimum wage is for the state... although you could possibly get merit credits depending on how you answered the questions in your interview. It is $7.25/hr. starting in Arizona.
