Read the garment care instructions. If it is * dry clean only *, then let the pros take out the stain.
If it is a hand-wash or washable garment, then try these:
Plain, regular, hair-spray works well as a prewash spray. If after washing the stain remains - do not dry it yet. Try rubbing toothpaste into the garment and wash again. If it still remains, put petroleum jelly on it and then wash as usual. Hope this helps.

A product I use is De-Solv-it. I would spray and let set for 30 min or so before cleaning as directed by the manufacturer. I purchase at Wal-Mart located on the Furniture Polish isle. Here is a little description of the product for the site listed below:
If it's a greasy, grimy, gooey, sticky, waxy, oily problem, solve it with De-Solv-it by Orange-Sol. De-Solv-it works where your all purpose cleaner can't. Zaps oil and grease, soap scum, scuff marks, tar, chewing gum, tree sap, oily lubricants and much more. 100% organic, biodegradable, non-corrosive and contains no harsh chemicals. Even safe on skin. 12 oz. USA.
