A hero is essentially someone who helps other people solely out of a sense of compassion or duty. They can do big and small things, with or without danger to themselves. A hero may never seek to be rewarded, and should not like being honored, although would be too polite to refuse either. Heros need to be humble, and it is generally considered that the greater the personal risk to the hero compared to the greatness of benefit toward others, the greater the hero really is.

Someone that reacts w/o thought of what might happen to him. A person that isn't looking for glory & doesn't see what the big deal is, when he/she did something heroic. It could be as simple as a parent who puts you first & goes without so his/her child can have a better life than they did.

To me "A true Hero" is someone who risks his own life to save someone else's....No selfishness there....
