did you buy it at the itunes store? did you take the dumb ipod off hold? is it charged? why don't you ask your parents to help you? I'm sure if you've got an ipod then they've had some sort of experience with one. It's nice to now how something works before you spend $200.00 on it ya know.

Where did you buy the song from? Ipods will play songs in AAC format (what you buy from iTunes) or MP3 or WMA (windows media format). They won't play songs that are in protected WMA, which is what you buy from Rapsody, Yahoo Music, Napster etc...

If you downloaded the song from someplace other than iTunes, then get the jukebox offered by that web site, will the song play on that? If so, the file is good, the format is wrong.

You can, with that other jukebox, create an audio CD with that song on it, then load the song from the CD into iTunes. It's a pain in the rump, but it works.

When you plug the iPod in, click on update iPod under the file menu. This should do the trick. If not, try restarting your computer. I've had this happen to me, and restarting it fixed the problem.
