You never had them in the first place and you never will truly have them. You may THINK you do. This is an illusion.

Things and people come and go. You may temporarily control one or the other. You may create some and you may destroy some.

Those you love become a part of you. Their presence or absence is not relevant.

Therefore either those things or people were really never there meaningfully to you in the first place, or they can never be truly lost, even if they are utterly destroyed.

I would much rather have my husband than materialistic items (...this is coming from a girl who lives in L.A. and loves my Coach purses and Christian Louboutin shoes) but I could not imagine my life with out my husband. He's a great lover, father and provider for our family.

All your posessions are just things. A life is much more important. Even if the things in your life have sentimental value, you'll still have the memories attached to them when you lose them.

Material things can be replaced. Not to contradict Beyonce's song, but each person is unique and irreplaceable. (Sure you can replace one body with another body, but it's not the same)
