My kids go to a play and learn group once a week and there is this lady there that has two kids ages one and two and pregnant with the third, due any day. She is weird. She dresses crappy and she dresses her kids crappy. Even her husband dresses crappy when he comes. (fleece sweatpants and a spiderman t-shirt). Fine apparel for at home but not in public. She dresses her poor little girl in boy clothes and the girl clothes she does dress her in are out of style. I like my kids to look nice. They are in their late thirties. Parents leave the kids and go have a parent discussion. They were holding hands and for some reason they quit. Then I saw him squeeze her leg and she reached for his hand, looked at him and then they kissed. I almost heaved. The class is only 1 1/2 hours long. I couldn't believe they couldn't contain themselves long enough. I don't think they are necessarily too old for PDA's but I don't think it was appropriate. What do you think? Weird or not?

For your information Lara, I don't spend a lot of money on kids clothes. You can find decent clothes at second hand shops all the time. I have, I do, and I still will. Second hand shopping is one of my favorite things to do.

Like I said, I don't think they are too old for PDA's but I don't think the situation was appropriate. Like having a discussion of how cold's affect children.

You're never too old. I don't particularly want to see tongue action going down at ANY age, but what you've described sounds wonderful, not icky.
Perhaps your feelings are colored by their awful fashion sense.
Hey, if you know their names you could nominate them for an appearance on What Not to Wear....
Hey - I'm a huge fan of resale shopping too! I even created an Access database with all kinds of info about the stores.

I think you are being very judgemental. Coming from a poor family you just described how my parents dressed us as children, and how they dressed themselves. It isn't right that you should say they are weird because they are dressed differently than you, maybe you make a higher income than theirs. You didn't mention anything about their personal hygiene so I am assuming they are clean.
On the basis of PDA. I actually feel that the older you are the more acceptable it is to show PDA. I would rather see an 80 year old couple kiss than two teenagers. At least they can't procreate unexpectedly. The only problem I see with this couples behavior is that it is happening where their are children, at least the leg grabbing part, but I do not see a problem with the kiss.
So my advice to you would be to mellow out and worry more about yourself than them!

I'm a little confused as to what your beginning statements have to do with your question. I think it depends on the PDA. To me nothing is more endearing then seeing some older couple holding hands and maybe "pecking" each other on the cheek while they are walking, or having dinner, etc. Small signs of affection do not necessarily mean they are 'hot' for each other...some people simply need often physical reinforcement of support.

Honestly it sounds like you are the one with a problem. They may not be able to afford nice clothes that does not change their value as people.
BTW you are never too old for PDA

Public displays of affection should never happen, this is something that is totally private, and should be kept private, also, you have no right to judge anyone on how they dress that is also private, maybe they like wearing what they do, if the kids become unhappy with what they are wearing, I'm sure they will let the parents know.

You are never to old to show public displays of affection. I think it's rather sweet the older they are, it just shows you can still find love at an older age.

I'm at my Mom's house, using her computer. So,when I first saw the opening question, I asked her what she thought (she's 70 years young). Her imediate answer: "Never" So long as the display is tasteful and respectful.
Then I read the rest of your account.
With all DUE respect, Ma'am, you are OUT OF LINE.
