i got a deep glass cut on the instep of my right foot, about an inch long, that was nearly two weeks ago, i have been to the hospital and had three stitches which recently were removed..i have done everthing, rested, ice, elevation, the works.. but i still dont have feeling along the side of the wound.. im also finding it difficult to move it, although there is some movement..

im concerned because 6 years ago i had a similar accident at work involving my hand, leaving my thumb completely motionless and numb forever because nerves and tendons had been severed.

I'm not sure what to do??

If I were you I will go see your doctor that way he or she can refer you to a Neurologist. They can run tests to see how much damage you have to your nerves.

Ask the doctor who worked on it to refer you to a nerve specialist. Or find one on your own for a medical opinion. This will cost you some money.

There are only about three things that would happen. Surgery, therapy, or wait and see. Healing can take a long time sometimes. But being informed is better than finding out to late what should have been done.

I would ask your Doctor to have a look at it, although if you have had stitches, you should have a follow up appointment at the hospital.

If the nerves are severed, then that is that, but if they are just damaged, it is possible, for them to recover. Also please bear in mind that any injury can take at least 6 weeks for the healing process, and if the damage is great, it could take many months to get the feeling back and you will need lots of physio too.

See the doctor. You might need a surgeon that deals with cut nerve damage to get it repaired.
I would think you have a Workman's compensation, so that should pay for it. You may need other treatment for many years to come, so do NOT sign off on you claim.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

My partner had a similar problem with her hand, a sharp knife was left in the sink at work.

Unfortunately your concerns are not unfounded my partner is having similar problems.
