A man in a pink shirt tells me he is confident in himself and he doesn't have anything to prove! Sparkly and glittery is another matter, I don't know why but that is pretty girly.

The problem is that there is a difference between liking a color, and liking a color publicly. I'm sure there are guys out there who also like the colors pink and purple.... and some that like glittery things. However, I don't think they will admit that in public. A lot of this IS society and NORMS being embedded before we are aware of what is going on. The fact that baby boys are usually dressed in manlier colors (blue, green, red, etc..) and baby girls are dressed in more feminine colors (pink, purple, yellow, etc..) I think plays a large role.... as does the upbringing of a child. When a little boy walks into first or second grade with pink pants on, what happens. He gets laughed at. So yes, I do think that it is Society that is assigning colors to genders. Personally, as a guy, I'm okay with pink. I have a couple of shirts that are pink and wear them out a lot. It looks good and anyone who has a problem with it can kiss my butt. LOL :-D

I like pink, purple, sparkles.....on a girl. I think it really is social upbringing, pink is associated with being feminine. I do wear pink, but only on certain occasions, and only if I still felt masculine in it. But if you grow up in some parts of Europe or Asia, pick is perfectly acceptable and masculine for guys, they were not raised to think pink is for girls and blue is for boys, like in the U.S.

I agree with Kee Kee. My 8 year old son just picked out a pink shirt that says "Tough Guys Wear Pink". And I guess alot of the boys in his school ended up having the same shirt.

We are taught since birth that pink means girl and blue means boy and i think if someone did a experiment and raised a kid with pink being a boy color thats what they would believe it to be and they would be afraid to mess with these standards that were so seriously shoved into their head

Its not, its just a colur that girls r related too, like blue is for boys, my favourite colour is blue and i dont really care its only a colour. Boys dont really assioate tehm selfves wearing light colorus and dont really go glittery.

Ah yes, real men are not afraid to wear pink. They wear it with confidence - pink shirts, purple ties, pink sweaters...when you can pull it off, so hot!
