First off, you can't assume!!! I always thought I could until after my first, but my mother and I have TOTALLY different histories with childbirth!!
For you, lots of walking, stretching, some vigourous exercise can't hurt at that point, and, of course, sex. They say CARO syrup helps induce labor. Nipple stimulation is also brought up (hope it precedes or comes along with sex!)
Talk to your doctor about your concerns. Your doctor can, if he or she is inclined and/or you insist, break your water for you if you and the baby are both healthy and ready. Stay away from labor-inducing drugs, however, unless there is a medical neccessity, because that can cause complications with labor and delivery.
Congratulations and God Bless!!

Don't do anything. If the doc is concerned he/she will induce for you at the office. Having sex to induce labor is just a myth, it hasn't been proven to help at all. Remember, you won't be pregnant forever, and when the time is right, your baby will come. There is no need to do anything to induce. However, if you want a healthy, easy time when you do go into labor, make sure you stay active througout your whole pregnacy. You'll likely have a much easier time when you give birth.

Best advise I can give is from experience from having 3 kids-
walk a lot, have sex, and stop thinking about when the baby is comming- enjoy the last few weeks of quiet and the amazing feeling of being pregnant. It's kind of like a mental thing, if you believe after awhile that you are sick, you get sick. If you stop worrying that the baby is not going to come, it makes time even longer.
Hope this helps- good luck and congrats!

why are you assuming? just because your mom was late does not mean you will be. the baby comes when it is ready. nature knows better than you do. my mom was 3 weeks late but none of my children were. you still have 10 weeks to go. i think it is a little soon to be worried about those things.

Have a curry. A girl at work did this for both her pregnancies and within a few hours her waters had broken!
Good luck!

Your baby will get here when it's ready. Not before unless your Dr. induces you.

Go out for walks. They don't have to be long walks, just go for a walk. I did that at the end of both of my pregnancies, and I'm convinced that's what put me into labor.
