I love Classical music. I am a full on METAL HEAD and have lots of "loud music with bad words" and I love that too but just because I like Heavy Metal doesn't mean I can't like other types as well. I consider myself to be a lover of all types of music and I am not going to pigeonhole myself into one musical taste.
I think more people like Classical than you realize. Have you ever seen the size of the classical section in any (good) CD store. It's huge!
The only problem I see with the Classical lover is the snob factor. They tend to poo poo on other genres because they are not considered as cerebral....screw 'em, like what you like!
Ohh and for the fool who said that classical is "simple and boring", try looking in the mirror and there you will find simple and boring my friend!!

Well, I for one love classical music! I just think that most people do not like classical music because they do not know what goes into classical music there for they do not understand it or appreciate it. I've sang classical music all my life. I would hope to someday be in the Washington Chorus in DC. I can listen to music and go whoa that was cool how the incorporated the Dissonance to create effect. and others look at me funny. My favorite aria is Faure's Requiem called Pie Jesus. it's a beautiful soprano aria. you should listen to it. you probably would like it.

most people never really sat long enough to fully listen and it does have a relaxing tone. l guess that is why a lot of Doctor office play it. the classic music lower the heart rate and blood presser. and people just don't want to relax, but when they watch some movies that is what plays and it gives more inner feelings to that movie which stirs the sentiments and there are those who just aren't sentimental or don't want to show it.

Because people are close-minded and persueded by what society finds to be "good music!" I played violin for 13 years and was able to perform at Carnegie Hall! I will always have a place for classical music in my heart, it is a great outlet and experience! Everytime I performed it was an amazing adrenaline rush! Every feeling from within me came out in my performance, its a form of expression without words! If you know classical you dont need words to understand its presence and meaning!

if they were exposed to it as children, they would be more familiar to it. It's not 'cool' by today's standards, I guess. I wish it were more popular. To me, classical music is associated with a culture of refinement & sophistication, which, sadly is a reflection on our own society & the regression of our cultural evolution. Makes me wonder what our music industry will be pumping out in the decades to come & if parents of the future allow their children to be so absorbed in 'entertainment' that teaches bad values & destroys families & communities

In most familys, people tend to learn their likes and dislikes from their parents and older siblings.
If you are only exposed to classical music, you are more likely to enjoy it more than any other type of music.
Some people prefer only heavy metal, others like country music, and still others may enjoy a large mix including jazz and blues.

I love Classical, Baroque, and the early Romantic Music. My favorites are Handel, Bach, and Beethoven. You should check them out, but you probably already have. It doesn't matter that people don't like it; it's good that you do. It is superior music. People now like music that talks about sex and immoral subjects like a lot of musicians now use in their lyrics. And people are attracted to this. Not me! I would rather listen, or play, a sonata (preferably the Appassionata).

Wrong again! Classical music is the most liked music that exists, if you base popularity on number of recordings sold and performance attendance!

I like classical too.
I don't listen to it all the time, but it's relaxing.
Some people seem to think it boring. I don't know why. They would rather listen to "music" with a never changing beat and obscene words.
What is this world coming to?
