I don't like the idea of having to pay to find public information. People who are incarcerated do have some rights, but it should be free and easy to find out about people who have been incarcerated, so long as it's not looking up information like SS# and what not.

If an individual is incarcerated, then they automatically become a matter of public record.
You should be able to look up anything you are wanting to know, except of course their S.S # and D.L. #, those are none of anyone business.
Call your local District Attorney's office and ask how to go about obtaining the info you are searching.. rules and laws vary from state to state.

Try typing "inmate look-up" into google. There are some free sites there, to look up specific inmates.
