I switched my son at 1 year. The easiest cup to use in the beginning was the Nuby brand ones with soft, nipple like spouts. Was very easy to switch. My daughter is 7 months and she is already using a Nuby sippy cup.

If your daughter is sitting up and can hold her bottlle.

Just put a little formula in the sippy cup and let her get used to using it. Do this during the day, after a nap, when she is awake, happy and receptive.

As she gets more proficient at drinking from the sippy cup, add a bit more formula or juice to it. Eventually, she will not even realize she is not using the bottle.

The night time bottle, we used until about a year. It seemed to help with the relaxing process.

The longer you wait to get rid of bottle, pacifier, etc...the harder it gets. We were done with all of those things by 15 months.

Don't start weaning this early. You should introduce the sippy cup with water and/or diluted juice. Then, around 11 months, start putting the formula in the cup. Replace one bottle a day with the cup and keep doing that till you are on all sippy cups and no bottles.

I would wait until she is 7 months, but definetly start. Babies should be off of the bottle at a year, because it messes up their growing teeth. If she is on a pacifier, take that now, and slowly introduce the sippy cup. I would get the leak proof ones to start with, because they tend to stuggle with them at first. When she gets the hang of it only let her have her bottle at night, and then after 2 weeks of that, let her only have the sippy cup. It has worked for me twice now. Good luck! Next step is potty training lol. Best wishes.

I started my girls on sippy cups at 3 months. They were off the bottle before one year of age. I think the earlier the better. My 1 1/2 year old (my baby) drinks from a regular cup now. It is totally up to you.

You can start now but I would wait until she is at least 8 to 9 months old. She just started holding her bottle right? give her time to adjust to it first. And when you do start, try using the Nuby easy transitioning cups first. They are made from the same sylicone like bottle nipples are and would be easy for her to adjust. They worked great for my son. Also make sure to note that sippys shouldnt be used for long periods of time. They are only to help the child learn to use a regular cup. Drinking sweet things like juice from sippys for too long are known by dentist to cause tooth decay. Unless they are used at mealtime, they should only be used for water at any other time. I found this out recently and Im just trying to look out for others. Good luck to you.

I would let her start sippy cups at 9 months while she is still on the bottle and then take her off the bottle at a year old. It worked great with my kids!

I would offer her a sippy cup, but do not take the bottle away yet. There's no hurt in her using one but most babies still want thier bottle. My daugther is 15 months old and still takes a bottle at night and in the morning. I don't see anything wrong with that. The most important thing is for you to do what you feel is right and not to listen to what ANYONE tells you to do!

Well, they need their bottles and formula until a year old--keep that in mind. However, you can start to introduce the sippy cup. They have this "hybrid" cup with a bottle nipple and a sippy cup body. Once the baby gets used to the feel of the sippy cup, you can pop out the nipple and insert the sippy cup sucker. Hope this helps.

6-7 months is a good time to introduce...still keep the bottle around because they still need formula/breastmilk until 12 months... and some babies are not ready for sippy cups until then but introducing now will lead to less problems.
