Well congrats to you and yours! =] This ultrasound will probably be to see how everything is developing. My sister in law just found the sex of her baby and she is at 22 weeks. So, I think you have some time before you'll know the sex. Good luck and best wishes!!

The gender can't be told until 18-20 weeks, sorry. The fetus does have genitalia at this point, but the ultrasound is not effective enough to get the details of such a small baby. Good Luck!

At 12 weeks, They usually check for any possible chromosome abnormalities. Some times they would be able to tell the gender too with very low accuracy. If you haven't had an ultrasound before, this would estimate the due very accurately.

When i had mine they couldn't tell i found out when i was five months pregnant. Did they not tell you what they were checking for amniotic fluid levels etc. They'll check to see if the baby is forming well though about the gender maybe they can since girls take longer to develop than boys.

The earliest they can tell the sex of the baby is 20- weeks. At this 12 week visit they are going to check you for fundal height. They will measure your uterus, and check your ovaries. They will also make sure you have enough fluids in your sack. They will also check the heart rate! And you gewt to hear it! It is exciting. Have fun with it.

sorry, but it is still too early to tell the gender. have to wait a lil while longer for that! i had to wait till about the 23rd week to find out. also had an ultra sound at about 14 weeks, and they were just checking to make sure the baby was developing on schedule. and to measure and make sure that the due date was accurate, they thought i felt bigger than i was supposed to be for 14 weeks, and come to find out that was because i was having twins so yes, i was bigger..... lol but not yet!! have to wait a lil while longer to find out the gender, as excited and anxious as you probably are.

Most likely the will not be able to tell the sex of the baby until around your 20th week, and sometimes they can't even then. I'm so sorry hun but you're gunna have to wait just a bit longer til you find out what your precious little bundel of joy is going to be. Congrat and I hope you have what you want!!!!

If the ultrasound machine they use is top knotch and the technition is very very skilled, it is possible to see this early.... however, most hospitals wont disclose their "guess" at this stage, because that's what it would be. They wont want ot be held liable for making the wrong call. They wont be able to find out for sure for about 5 more weeks yet... give it time :)

I'd say it is a slim to none chance. Though, I weighed about 110 pounds before pregnancy and the dr.'s told me because I was so skinny they could probably tell around 15 weeks. Good luck. You will love seeing your baby no matter what! It is amazing.

They can probably fugure out the gender of the baby. When my ex was pregnant with my daughter they were able to tell me the gender of the baby when she was 12 weeks pregnant.
