If your running temp. is plus or minus no more than 4 degrees from your thermostat spec. something is wrong. The stat. specification is in your operators manual in your glove compartment. Your electric fan sensor may be out of spec. the gage may be out of spec. When have you last had your entire cooling system flushed. If you do it, or have it done save the old antifreeze and inspect it carefully. If there is any brown sludge or brown discolored fluid, your system needs to be acid cleaned and flushed. the good stuff comes in a two part acid / neutralizer. General Motors has a very stout granular acid also. Check the Manuel again it gives the antifreeze spec. I think it may call for Dex-cool. Don't accept substitutions.

Why do you even drive a Malibu? My dad has an '03, and those things are gashogs. Downgrade to a Cobalt, which is what I got. Much better on gas than a Malibu.

But to answer your question, don't know what to tell you.

nicely, your cooling followers may no longer be operating. even as utilising you're forcing air by way of the radiator, so that you do not have topics. of direction, you'll wanna examine fuses first. even as's the basically accurate time the thermostat become replaced. probable doesn't be a nasty theory because of the age of the vehicle.
