--to come up w/ an effective way to combat an uncivilized, and cowardly enemy who shoots at us from behind their own women and children; and sneaks up to bomb or otherwise murder unarmed civillians (which includes babies and the elderly)?
Does it make much difference 'where' we fight them, as long as we use our military, and we don't jeopardize the safety of our citizens by fighting here?--Are there any countries in the middle east that don't hate "infidels" or harbor terrorists, and who will not eventually become a threat to our people or to our economic survival?
We need to get experienced troops and air bases in the middle east ,however we can, in order to confront the problems that will most surely arise there.

Muse---Yes, it's a shame that Bush lacks the mystical powers that would win over your all-knowing self.
The question is 'how does the world deal w/ this serious problem', not who's your favorite person.

Bronzediv---I'm a decorated veteran, and at 75 I will still take your place if you can't muster the courage.
We have never demanded that our Commander-in-Chief be a soldier or veteran, and for good reasons.
It has only become a problem to the dreamy- eyed Liberals who think that we can just all join hands and sing w/ those people who want o kill us.

Most of those in Iraq would be in much better shape, and would not feel that their people "died in vein", if people like you would not have been retarding their progress w/ your negative propaganda.
Our poor soldiers have had to fight both the enemy in front and the enemy behind them who was destroying their morale.

Absolutely right. People need to wake up to the reality that it's not all about one's political preferences.

This is a very good point. Iraq is not the war, it is the battlefield. The war we fight in Iraq is simply the gathering point for two opposing ideologies.
The time to debate whether we should be in Iraq or not is over. The fact of the matter is that we are committed there. Like it or not, sides have been chosen. Many of you may think that you are not on this side, but you are. You are most definitely are not on that side. And. You had better understand how important it is that we win there. I guarantee they understand that whoever wins in Iraq will determine the course of the region for the next 100 years. And. Would be in a position to threaten all free people on the planet.

Those are some pretty good points. Not liking Bush is one thing, but whining about how much you hate him is a waste of time. I would add that we need to be mindful of other country's citizens, starting a war in their backyard so we don't have one here isn't an ideal answer, and in the long run might inspire more terrorism against us.

I agree hating Bush is a waste of time. Why is this our fight? I understand 9/11 but at what point does it stop being a fight against terrorist and become a fight to establish a new Iraq. I think our priorities are skewed. Perhaps instead of fighting here or there we need to focus on preventing attacks but not through invasion.

Because the Bush haters don't believe such an enemy exists... Their own party believes Iran is "friendly" and we should engage in talks with Iran.. Meanwhile US troops capture terrorists today (Jan.11,2007) that were using weapons made by Iran in 2006..

Bush is the convient scapegoat since our politicians waste time $ and energy doing nothing but grandstanding with THEIR ever so important need and right to discuss/explain/demand/investigate and demand proof that any action wont have "bad" personal/political consequences.Like lose big fiscal supporters (unions, agro / farmer conglomerates blocks, corporations, industries etc) or a "voting block"upset because their "special" black/hispanic/save the world/environmental/educational/medical needs abortion alternate fuels, industries poised for stem cell research etc )or are NOT being met..
-->>NOTHING is easier- than a PLAN to distract and decry the actions of the scapegoat...What cant be DUG UP using hindsight or supposed advice given can be CREATED and DECLARED as factual PROOF that xx made a mistake,CHOSE to deceive to get his way...Opponents can be destroyed or put on the defensive and WILL lose powerand prestige.
Political HUE and CRY plans limit time and review of their actions/statements;The objective is to create their "surge"--which in turn produces one (media coverage of xx statement/proposal/harsh comments etc )CHARGE after another such that the tide of opinion is overturned thru constant repetition of "fact" "errors" stubbornness" etc
Its all about POWER for politicians whose main priority is to secure their jobs.
That they WERE EMPOWERED BY THE PEOPLE TO PROTECT AND SERVE THIS NATION is not just forgotten - it is NO LONGER MOOT. Instead the people are constantly barraged in the media with the CRY and demands of politicians scavanging for attention which will bolster their power and position...
Why work at the real job they swore to do when all they have to do is yell that they"KNOW"what must be done and WHY the Opponent or BUSH is XXXXXXX...
Like all squeaky wheels, they get attention, dont really have to work while they scream and demand a full discussion/disclosure a nd psychic reading for any proposed action...
Give the people a show and THEY wont notice that the players really arent working let alone accomplishing anything ...active production (called work by the common man) is laborious and subject to CRITICAL scrutiny... Entertainment properly spiced with declarations of need, outrage, rumor, sympathy and a villian is fun and what has duped mankind for eons...
Iran and others are working the same game now..declare xx an enemy (USA ,Isreal, infidels) or an entitty that needs to be eradicated to "save the world/country ". scream loud, long with examples of the "bad" things the enemy does has done or will do...create incidents that "prove" your point and how "serious" this problem is ,hire /fund mercenaries/militias to remove possibility of direct trace back, try and enlist other allies who will profit from the demise of the named enemy, and ALWAYS declare your cause just righteous...
Humans are suckers for the promise of justice and pay back against the villian who they have been distracted into believing is the source of all evil and misery in their life...
Americans tend to only look inward and play with our internal potitical disagreements, or diverse views on what is better/"right" etc.. we are fixated on the entertainment hollywood/politics/outrageous things judges, city officials, cops, "xx" groups do .
America needs to confront real problems, stop the grandstanding political power games ,enforce, void or amend laws and stop promoting the idea that everyone is entitled to assistance simply because they feel they didnt get a "fair education",rich parents, or acknowledgement that they are special because "xx"" .the USA was founded by a hardy, hardworking, we can deal with adversity attitude. Pioneers didnt rant that the government wasnt delivering reduced cost fuel,or didnt provide housing, food, supplies, and cash faced with problems or an unexpected disaster...they learned to build on high ground not in the flood plain of a river,to spend their resources on basic necessities rather than the extra fancy horse and saddle,or the expensive bolt of beautiful fabric that everyone will envy...
....The USA has much to be grateful for- much of which was secured by the hard work, determination, focus and blood of the earlier generations...
Without focus and vigilence this USA will suffer.
All Humans will respond to danger with hatever they can to insure the survival of their next generation...The USA needs to focus to prevent an lethal reaction stemming from the anger, pain, loss and outrage that results from the "last straw"...I agree,we also need to prepare for the possibility that there is truth to the following:
Irrational,deluded,fanatical "leaders
are unable to consider the possibility of their failure. They will proceed despite the guaranteed death, destruction, chaos that occurs when humans fight. The reason they choose a plan that they believe will secure power, resources, please their god, etc IS IRRELEVENT ...
Humans have always had a choice-remove, contain or destroy the miswired or the source of the threat... Once humans engage in a fight, the death /destruction claims both sides. ...In todays world there is the possibility that there will be no victors to write the "history"

your logic brings about a self fulfilling prophecy.. you make the future happen in the way you fear by the actions you take to prevent it.. it doesn't have to happen that way.
I'm not willing to bet my life on your cynical line of thought.. that's for sure.. because your line of thought only leaves one outcome.. that more devastating war will come.. at least with mine there are more options.
P.S. I don't' really care because I do it too.. but your answer will get reported for chatting if you keep responding to people.. just a heads up.. I've had some deleted for that.

I think you misunderstand. We had no business invading Iraq. Thousands of people have died who had nothing to do with 911. Moreover, more young men and women have died in this stupid war than who died in the twin towers. From biblical days the people of the Middle East have carried grudges and have been getting rid of their enemies a few at a time. They don't have our arsenal but they have determination so we will never be rid of them. My hatred for Bush and people who think like him is that they are always so willing for somebody else's children to make sacrifices but they make no personal sacrifices. If Dubya is so right, why aren't you in Iraq along with his children and those of the congressmen who voted for the war?
