I've been engaged for 2 years ( together for 6) my boyfriend cheated on me. I broke the engagement off until further notice. We are trying to work our problems out.

You can do anything you want. There are no set rules for engagement or marriage. It has been my experience that if he cheated on you before you were married then he'll do it afterward too and you're better off without him. But of course that is just one person's opinion. You should always follow what your heart dictates, not what anyone else tells you about this and that. I hope that you can resolve your problems. Sometimes though there is no resolution when these things occur. Good luck.

Depending on your country of origin there may be a BREACH OF PROMISE issue, though the circumstances as stated would probably meet the CAUSE test. In the US engagement is not, normally, considered to be a binding legal contract.

Now, as for "re-engagement." That's simple. one of you has to propose and the other has to accept. How you explain it around, well, that's more complicated.
