I was on imdb.com looking up my favorite actress and literally on every Black woman forum someone was asking "What is she mixed with"? Why can't Black woman be attractive without being mixed? There are a lot that are such as, Gabrielle Union, Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan, Lauryn Hill, Oluchi Oneagba, Liya Kebede, Kelly Rowland, Tyra Banks etc...

Your wrong Iman has said that she's mixed with nothing. She said that in a interview that she doesn't have a drop of arab or caucasian blood in her and that she's beautiful because she's black.

A lot of people buy into stereotypes, I'm African and a lot of people are shocked and always ask me am I mixed with something else. I get this from mostly African Americans, and it's just silly, not all pure Africans fit the broad nose, thick lips, blue-black, short hair description.

I believe that's the fact we live in a eurocentric society. For example when was the last time People magazine had an african american as the most beautiful person of the year. If you turn on the tv, you'll notice the same thing. America's idea of beauty is the closet you are to white the better. If you look into some of these men's magazines like FHM, Stuff and etc. You rarely see a black female on the cover. Occasionally they'll have Halle, Beyonce or someone with a light skin tone. This one reason I personnally stopped subscribing to those magazines.

If you notice new magazines like King or Blackmen tend to cater to those who like to look a different types of blackwomen, not just the few the appeal to whites. The only way to fix this problem is to have are own magazines, tv shows and movies. This will allow us to show the world as well as our own culture that beauty comes in all shades of colors.

Unfortunately a lot of people have very narrow minded preconceived ideas about how different races of people should look , act, like, and live. If the mold doesn't fit they assume that the person is somehow altered. They never would consider for one minute that they might be WRONG. Such is the sad state of many . all we can do is be all that we can be and prove them WRONG over and over . Hopefully and with much continued patients the few who accept and embrace the wonderful differences that God has created in mankind can help to educate those who do not.

BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE IGNORANT *INCLUDING BLACKS*...It is assumed that if the world recognizes a black women as attractive, that she innatele CAN NOT be black. Its part of the demoralizing and dehumanizing of all things BLACK! Don't believe the hype people. go to africa and every country and tribe looks different. They are PURE BLACK (whatever the hell that is) and they have curly, wavy, and straight hair and narrow noses and thin lips...just look at ethiopians or nubians or egyptians. Take a freakin anthropology class and you will learn that there is only one race HUMAN. stop with the bullsh!t already and just give blacks the props they deserve for making every "swarthy" olive toned dark hued woman or man beautiful.

It's ignorance and society.Society made some people believe that the only beautiful woman are blond hair blue-eyed.We all know that this is not true.To me race does not matter and if a woman is beautiful she's beautiful.A woman doesn't need to be mixed to be beautiful. If you go to Africa I bet that you will see tons of beautiful woman who are not mixed. They come in all shades.

Because black people have been portrayed a wide-nose-having-big-***$d-ugly chicken head and the "less" black attributes a girl has the more accepting the white media is.

I don't know but I find the darker toned women to be the most attractive...but that's just me. Some people are ignorant and really believe that in order to be attractive you have to have Caucasian genes which isn't true.

I think Halle Berry is a plain jane. Theres nothing special about her to me shes so boring both her and beyonce an dMariah are some of the plainest mixed girls I've seen. Darker Black women look better than the light ones that's my opinion.

Racial bias - White society has always considered Black people, especially Black women, to be ugly, so the only way they can acknowledge a sista as beautiful is to claim that she has some White ancestry.

Sadly, a LOT of Black people buy into this mentality too!

Because the ones that are typically LABELED as being beautiful are the light-skinned ones like Halle Berry and Beyonce. I know it's not fair, but that's the cultural bias that exists...

I agree with you about Lauryn and Tyra. And I would add Angela Bassett and Pam Grier. I'm an older guy myself, and Pam Grier really puts the steam in my trousers! She is one FINE looking lady.
