The Catholic Church believes that God himself is the author of marriage and has created it for one man and one woman.
The Church further teaches that being homosexual is not a sin but that all single people (heterosexual and homosexual) are called to celibacy.
What civil governments decide to do is up to their citizens and the constitution of the country.
But the Church has a commission from Jesus Christ to "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, ... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
In obedience to this command, the Church has been telling world governments what it believes is right and wrong since the time of the Romans.
With love in Christ.

What does the Bible teach about practicing homosexuality?
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: " Roman 1:26
What the present-day scandal like molesting children has brought under close scrutiny of the Catholic doctrine of celibacy.
Catechism claimed celibacy was necessary in the interests of true holiness, thereby enabling a man to be wholly committed to one bride and one bride only, namely, Christ's church.
99% of the catholic priest pedophiles are homosexuals, so it logically follows that if you ban all homosexuals from the priesthood that would pretty much end the pedophilia problem.
Catholic is the "True Church" but allowed hundreds of priests to serve while they sexually abused children and did not report the incidents to the police.
The Bible says,
Scripture prohibits FALSE DOCTRINE
Titus 1:9, Colossians 3:8, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, 2 Peter 2:3, 2 Peter 3:17
Scripture prohibits FALSE PROPHETS
Deuteronomy 18:20-22, Isaiah 9:14-17, Jeremiah 5:31, Jeremiah 14:14-16, Jeremiah 23:16-40, Ezekiel 13:1-23, 2 Peter 2:1
Scripture prohibits LYING PASTORS
1 Timothy 3:8 Titus 1:7, 2 Peter 2:3
Scripture prohibits IMMORAL PASTORS
1 Timothy 3:2, 2 Peter 2:2
Scripture prohibits SELF-WILLED pastors
2 Peter 2:10
Imacatholic, Why do I continue to criticize God's "anointed"?

George Bush is only not legalizing gay marriage because he has no chance in hell of getting re-elected unless he champions a huge issue like this. Christianity has nothing to do with it really, and I was raised Christian so I know that it's against the religion, but I still think gay people SHOULD be allowed to be together for the very reason you said.. this is a democracy and people should be allowed within reason to do what makes them happy (within reason: doesn't infringe upon other people's rights... like if you're a cannibal, you shouldn't be allowed to eat live people because... yeah lol).
THE MAIN PROBLEM with this issue is that homosexual people believe they should be able to get married in churches which believe homosexuality is a sin... marriage in a church is "a man and a woman united under God". Homosexuality is against the doctrine of the church, so why would they insist upon being married in a church?
This would be similar (though this situation is a lot more serious, and conflicts with doctrine to a FAR greater degree) to a group of Rastafari asking to hold a religious ceremony involving the use of Ganja in a Christian sanctuary... it just doesn't happen, because if it did, the rights of one group of people would be infringing upon the rights of the other. Do you see my point?

How you came to be was through a man and a woman...thats how we all get here. Its the norm. The Bible states that homosexuality is detestable in Gods sight and therefore God fearing Christians adapt that as their viewpoint as well. The heat behind the hatred is wrong and sinful - and that comes from both sides of the debate,so quit the cryin'.
I dont agree with gay marriage nor do I agree with the war in Iraq or GW's revised game plan. I will even apologize for voting for him! But I will not enter into hate. But as far as my vote goes, I like society being the norm,a man and a woman joined in marriage. I think the big struggle is that this country is tweaking so many of its bylaws and ordinances to try and satisfy all the smaller groups and/or communities (the loud ones) that the big picture has been lost.....that would be the picture of unity. We're all so divided and all have to so right that we are imploding at the very core! Unfortunately, gay rights, immigration and the use of Gods name tend to be the foundation of everyones soapbox! Enough already!

I believe we have to start talking and practicing tolerance.
All the people would have to accept the diversity on the human race, and adapt to it, i honestly believe god created us diferent and loves us no matter who we are or who we love.
But gay people have to practice tolerance as well, and accept people that don't want to look at them holding hands all around, i know this migth be not fair, but maybe is the time to give the society a chance to embrace this new ideas that haven't been accepted for so long.
..
And i was reading Egotist, do you think all married couple make sex only to make babies, and never do it only for the satisfaction? i don't think so.
So, they shouldn't have sex either, righ? because that's a sin too.. the same as gays sex.
Rosemary.. don't you think that god could have given us the sex to have pleasure as well, i mean, that's a great gift from god.
And for all those who are againts gay marriage, have you ever seen the love in a gay couple, i can say that i've seen people more inlove, more commited, and with better understanding between them than some heterosexual couples who have lost the meaning of love.
I guess love is love, nomatter how much sex or how much pleasure you have with it, when there is love, i cannot believe god would punish it.

First Christians believe it's wrong because GOD made women for men.(Eve was Made so Adam would have a companion.) We were meant to reproduce. The bible says men who lie with men will not inherit God's kingdom. (what about women) Ha Ha .I went to church when growing up. However I believe what you do is your business not Bush's!!! I have two people in my family and friends that are gay.I believe if you love someone and they love you and you treat each other good that is what matters. It not right that when my husband dies I can get his social security. A gay couple could be together for 50 years not married one dies the other can't receive the s.security. That so wrong ! MAYBE bush should read the BIBLE the part about not judging others that there is one judge (GOD) And further more I think Bush need to read the whole Bible!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HOPE I DON'T GET BANDED LIKE
THE DIXIE CHIC

The problem is that people have been taking passages from the Bible completely out of context to justify antiquated and out of date religious beliefs, and the supposed evils of homosexuality are on the top of that list.
People don't want to think for themselves or learn for themselves. If they would seriously study the Bible, really understand the text, read the original translations (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek) for themselves in their own quest for knowledge they would see that the Bible never really does speak out against homosexuality in any way shape or form.
Lastly, if homosexuality were the number one cardinal sin that all of the fundamentalists are screaming about, then why didn't Jesus ever mention it?
People should stop hating gays as "hate" is not a Christian value.

Ah, yes...the good old "well the Bible says" excuse. Funny that all of these devoted believers don't take the time to understand the history associated with their wonderful book.
Don't get me wrong...I believe in God, and was raised Catholic.
But the fact of the matter is that the Bible was written by human men, who each had an agenda. On top of that, it was then translated by human men, who each had an agenda. AND THEN, it was edited (parts taken out and other stuff added) by politicians, who OBVIOUSLY each had an agenda.
Much of what's written in the Bible is adaptation of pagan beliefs (can we talk Easter or Christmas here?), and not necessarily the actual words of God.
Personally, I think that anyone who quotes the Bible, but then doesn't love ALL of God's other creations is just a hypocrite. Really...How does someone love God, but hate their brother? FYI, that's a quote that I stole from a race-rights poster from Alabama, in the 1960's. But doesn't it apply everywhere?
Christians should "Love one another", and "judge not lest ye be judged", in my opinion.
Peace.

We believe that marriage between a guy and woman is ordained of God. there is more effective to marriage than basically "on the earth"... We believe marriage and kinfolk lasts for the time of eternity, when you make and keep the sacred covenants of marriage. this boundless bond can in consumer-friendly words be between a a million) Priesthood holder 2) a lady and three) God. There won't be able to be 2 Priesthood holders and God, nor 2 women folk and God in this covenant. it really is extremely no longer how God set it up. I honestly have little doubt some individuals are born more effective genetically "male" or more effective "woman" than they're and that is what causes the tendancy to be attracted to an identical sex. yet, I also believe that God might want to by no ability say some thing is adverse to the commandments, and then supply someone no danger at overcoming that sin. Being attracted to an identical sex and then appearing on it really is a temptation, and one which is triumph over IF the guy is prepared, yet in this international, maximum experience it really is their "accurate" so it doesn't be counted what God has stated on the be counted. i don't believe for a minute that gays "can no longer help being gay". i'm particular it truly is totally not hassle-free to resist that temptation... yet do no longer ignore that God has stated there's no trial he will allow us to have that we received't triumph over. So I firmly believe all of us be able to conquer our temptations, no be counted what they're, IF and provided that we seem to the help it really is sweet and that is from the Lord. no longer that those are an identical ingredient, yet imagine about those who're liable to alcoholism, or abusing better 0.5 or offspring, or who're pedophiles. will we seem any incorrect way and say "nicely, God made them that way?" No, because God doesn't "make" every person make the options they do. And appearing on gay tendancies isn't any diverse in "determination".

Don't know. It's not like they asked to be gay. I agree with u too on that everyone in the country is not christian. They're people, humans. Anyway, who should care about someone being gay, it's not they're business.
