Okay be as honest and detail as possible. None of those one word answers. What would you do if you were president. Forget the fact that Bush started the war and wether you think its right or wrong. Just give me what you would do now.

In my opinion there isn't much that is going to help. If we pull out that could be very very bad! If we continue the same course that is very very bad its not going to solve anything. If we overpower and send more than 20,000 troops and just start killing people off wether good or bad then the world would rise up against us. I do not like Bush and I do not think the chooses he makes is right. But on this one I can see why no one knows what to do! Its a lose lose situation. I think we have gotten ourselves way in to deep. What do you think!

Okay once again weight the options. If you bomb everything and just nuke them then you have the other countries on our ***. Okay look at this as a political leader and that you are overseeing the whole country not for just a day or month but forever.
If you think you would handle it a certain way explain why and what you think the outcome would be not just war wise but from the other countries.

Interesting question, but not an easy one to answer.
The Democrats control Congress, so Bush's power is depleted.
I would work with Congress about the Iraq situation, the country
is in a civil war, there is nothing we can do to prevent it or stop it.
We need to take a step back there and let the Iraqis figure out themselves how to govern their own country.
Next I would take a hard stance w/ North Korea. I would try to align with China and let the Chinese pressure N.Korea about their nukes.
The Iran situation is deteriorating, this may sound harsh, but dealing with them is virtually impossible, they will not listen to
reason or any UN pleas. So....I'd have a military strike against
their nuclear program to knock it out. (The Isralies did this awhile ago).
We are America, the strongest nation on earth, it's about time we
stand up on our feet against countries who try to villify us. We
need to show that the world's opinion of us doesn't matter. They need us more than we need them.Other nations are going to have to deal with it.
Next, I'd address the immigration issue, it can be fixed.
I believe we have enough people from foreign countries here
already. I'd close the borders completely until we can resolve
our problems w/ illegal immigrants.
I would make it illegal to burn our flag. Anyone caught doing this
at a demonstration would be deported if they were not a citizen.
Citizens would receive a mandatory 1 year jail sentence.
Our prison system doesn't work. Inmates have a life of luxury
for committing crimes. It's time to toughen up.
I'd have the Alaskan pipeline doing what it is supposed to be doing - providing oil to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
as it was originally intended.
I would do away with the "nobody gets left behind" iniative in our schools. It doesn't work. If you fail, you repeat the grade - bottom line. Our children are not getting the education they deserve.
I would give the retired people on social security a RAISE and increase medi-care benefits.

I would bring back the draft, flood the country with a quarter million more troops in the next 6 months, completely disband and kill the armed militias of religious leaders, well kill them if need be.
I would stop all the no bid Halliburton contracts and open up the reconstruction to the Iraqis. Their country they say who does what. Stimulate the economy and give them something to do keeping them from joining terror groups. Seal off the borders so terrorists from Iran and Syria cant get through.
Apologize to them for what we did previously and swear that this time as soon as they stand up we will leave.
Oh and any person who joins to train with the Iraqi military or police and then turns into an insurgent is executed as soon as found.
Maybe threaten them, they have a year to shape up or they get a bomb, like Japan did. Not really sure on that though, dont want to kill innocent people and all but stuff happens.

First of all, Bush didn't start this war. We were attacked, and the terrorists began the war on terror. Saddam is the one that violated 17 resolutions, and brutalized his own people with WMD. Not us. Second of all, it's not IF we send in reinforcements to Iraq, it's WHEN. We can't appease these terrorists, and giving them Iraq would be a disaster. We have to make the new born democracy of Iraq stable. Making their democracy stable helps the whole world. In ending, though mistakes have been made I think Bush is a great leader, and doing a good job. However, I would have sent in more troops from the git-go. But you know what, I'm not a military expert, and neither are you, so....

The first thing I'd do if I were president is to make human rights the cornerstone of our country's foreign policy. That would mean putting people's welfare over our addiction to cheap consumer goods and oil (yep, believe it or not, our gas is still relatively cheap compared to the rest of the world). If we really care about spreading democracy, then we have to lead by example, even if that requires sacrifice on the part of all Americans. Further, the US should promote SECULAR regimes rather than whatever religious nuts happen to hate our enemies as much as we do.
The reason the rest of the world views us as disingenuous hypocrites is because we have one set of moral standards for our enemies and another for ourselves and our allies. Sadly, despite the lofty rhetoric about freedom and democracy, the US has a shameful history of undermining democratic elections in other countries - the most obvious being Iran in the 1950s and Chile in 1973.
Perhaps worse, the US has routinely supported terrorists and terrorist states whenever it suits our purposes. Even Jimmy Carter continued to support the genocidal regime in Indonesia after that country decimated the population of East Timor. Reagan gave monetary and military aid to both Iraq and Iran as well as support to right wing death squads under Roberto D'Aubbisson in El Salvador. And the list (under both Democratic and Republican administrations) goes on and on and on.
And just to be clear, these foreign policies have usually enjoyed bi-partisan support.
So what to do about Iraq? Get out. Maybe pay reparations.
Of course the first step towards minimizing the appeal of Middle Eastern terrorists is to take a more even handed approach to the Palestinian problem. THAT's the number one reason why we're hated in the Middle East. While Israel has the right to exist, it does not have the right (nor does anyone) to illegally build on occupied land, divert water sources, torture detainees, etc. The number one impediment to peace in the Middle East is America's unconditional support for the state of Israel - a strategic stronghold in the region during the Cold War - and the Saudi government where woman aren't allowed to vote and homosexuality is a capitol offense.

First let me say that I would have handled everything differently since 9/12.
So if we are going from today!
Send in 250,000 of our troops to secure Iraq and arrest or expell the insurgents. Secure the borders. Train the Iraqi military personnel and police forces and by the end of 2007 bring our troops home!
Securing Iraq wouldn't take that long if we had the appropriate amount of troops there.
That should have been the first order of business once we established victory in apprehending the government officials!
As president I would call on all of the countries of the MIddle East to commit to the security of Iraq as it is in their best interest to secure Iraq and not let Iran eventually control it.
If we leave before Iraq can defend itself against ANY agressor it WILL become Iran.
The country once known as Iraq will be known as Iran.
Take the restrictions off of our military and let the Generals and soldiers accomplish victory efficiently and effectively!!!
In the future I would more aggressively pursue Osama Bin Laden.
WHY?? In 5 years has he not been arrested????
Arrest him and ALL of his cronies and investigate the financial backers of Al Qaeda and demand they all be held accountable!!
There is no room for politics in the safety of the country!
When we are attacked it is the Presidents DUTY to apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice!!!
As far as the war in Iraq goes it doesn't have to continue to be a quagmire. We just have to quit playing political games with our mission and DO THE JOB RIGHT!!!
Secure Iraq .....Train Iraqi military and police .... Bring our troops home!!
I don't feel that we should have gone to war with Iraq but you asked what I would do from now.....

the military on our land cant really do anything unless governors ask for enactment of the soldiers, for money reasons has to have approval.
congress needs to secure our borders and quit beating around the subject, our troops are overseas dying cause we arent safe here. we secure our borders, slowly withdraw and grow a pair with our own country to keep us safe.
military has terrorists on the run, they are being hunted, instead
of sitting stateside safe and wating to be hit.
i would rather hunt than be caught off guard again.
til we get our country safe, they will stay longer.
tell congress to get it in gear.
if you want more strategic opinion as far as how they should do it
in iraq, email me at logan6171@yahoo.com.
our guys are getting railroaded in war time, thats not fair to them.

point the troops towards saudi arabia and take care of this terrorist problem once and for all. 15 of 19 hijackers, A rabs. bin laden, A rab. take their money away from them and end this stupid game. oh yea, force the UN to do its job and leave the pieces of iraq for them to fix. waiting, while idiot UN inspectors bumbled their way through iraq looking for wmd's made it possible for them to hide it all. for all we know, it could all be 2 miles underground.
