I will be graduating in May and will be a future Elementary School teacher. I am willing to get up and move anywhere across the country to teach, but would like some feedback as to what states are good, bad, high salary, low salary, etc. So please in your response include your state, first-year salary, and most importantly what you think of the school systems in your area. Thanks so much!

Here's a ranking website for the Smartest State. Salaries will vary within each state by population, etc.

I'm in VA, and my area doesn't pay all that great for teachers (25K to 30k per year).

Don't come to AR.. we have good school systems but the pay is one of the lowest in the world for teachers. (unless u are a special ed major). Any "high salary" job is going to come with a lot of negatives..bigger classes because u are in major metropolitan cities.. higher crime rate.. higher living cost, more "troubled" students and the big thing now is the illegals.. It takes so much time to work with them that American students aren't getting educated.. so take that into account if u are moving to a place like CA.. I am not a teacher but I did sub teach here for 15 years and so I know what goes on and what the salary is..(somewhat).

Well I know that teaching in the catholic schools in San Antoinio are the best. I had a person tell me that they have good benefits and when you retire is great. He was in civil service and left to be teacher and finish his first part of what he'd been doing teaching.
