I love British Comedy, although I do find American Comedy has it's strong points too. They're just different kinds of comedy.
I love Blackadder (especially Blackadder's various creative insults towards Baldrick), Spaced and Coupling. I do like Little Britain a lot, but I do feel it is overrated in comparison to shows such as Spaced and Blackadder which are superior in my eyes. I find it amusing that one person said American comedy is too predictable, and then says they love Little Britain, when Little Britain is the same premise repeated over and over, therefore a little preditable?
I also enjoy comedies like Friends and Desperate Housewives though, although they are very different to British comedy. I think the British comedy uses more wit and irony to make jokes, whereas shows like DH and Friends are situation comedies, where comedies come from what happens to the characters.
I couldn't say which I prefer, to be honest, as I love them both. However, American TV have popular programs in all genres, whereas British TV struggles in many genres, and I feel comedy is one area of TV where the Brits have excelled, so perhaps in relation to British and American TV as a whole, British comedy can be considered better.
Anyway, waffling now. Sorry... :-)

Like a lot of them. Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served?, AYBS Again?, The Young Ones.... Can list a lot. Yes, sometimes they are better than America's. But you have to know that their sense of humor differs from Americas. And at imes that is a good thing. British coms let you get away with things that Am might not.

I was unaware Americans had progressed beyond slapstick and one-liners in their comedies. Not all British comedy is good but the best is the best in the world.
