My friend was in french class and she says that there is a word for 'male chicken' in french and a word for 'rooster' in french. But are they two different things? Because I thought that's what male chickens were called...roosters..

The term is capon. It is a rooster that was castrated at a young age.

Yeah....a male chicken is a rooster. Just like there are different names for a male horse, depending if it has been neutered or not.
