I believe it was November of 1984. It was the beginning of the 1984-1985 season. He then retired after the 1993 NBA Finals. He came back in March of 1995, then retired again after the 1997-1998 season in the lockout season in 1999. He would make his last comeback in November of 2001 and retired for the final time in April of 2003.
