Time is usually sufficient. The fibers, unless broken, will stand up. Vacuum well, try "raking" them up with a fork, or try steaming them.......iron, moist cloth then fluff with fork.

place an ice cube in each depression and let melt, after it is melted, need to rake it up. Invest in a carpet rake, usually less than $20 and can be bought at a carpeting store or janitorial supply store. Also use the rake after vacuuming, keeps the fibers standing up and can help prolong the life of the carpet

I have a carpet cleaner that has nap lifters on it (hard nubs that beat the dirt out and lift the fibers) I believe that the scum buster also comes with one of these attachments as well

go to the hardware store and buy furniture coasters...they look just like what they sound like and help distibute the weight. To remove current depressions ..use just the hose on your vacuum cleaner with out any attachments to suck the imprints up.
