I have a very large chest for my body size...36DD and I'm 5 foot 1. I've always wanted to have reduction surgery but I've heard that it isn't advised if you plan on having children and breast feeding because the scars can stretch during pregnancy and the milk glands can be removed as part of the reduction. Can anyone offer advice of this...I'm only 23 and while I would like to have kids one day, I would love to feel better about my body before then (especially on my wedding day). I also can't see myself being financially able to do this after starting a family while I could afford the expense now. Does anyone know how much it costs? If anyone has gone through the surgery, I would love your input on the results and how much it changed the way you felt. Thanks.

You CAN still breast feed after a breast reduction. http://www.bfar.org is a good site that has a lot of information on that.

Also, http://www.breasthealthonline.com is an excellent site to go to to get questions answered about breast reductions. Register, start chatting in the breast reduction forum, and look at the FAQ forums for anything you may want to know.

You can get it covered by insurance if it is causing health issues. Mine was covered 100% by my health insurance and I had it done in Feb '06 (38J to 38C). I had 5 pounds taken off my chest!

I LOVE IT!

Good luck!

I don't see what having children has to do with it. My Friend's daughter had a breast reduction when she was 16 she is now 21 and just had a baby in July 06.. My other friend just recently had one and she is only 23. So I think if it makes you more comfortable with yourself then talk to a doctor about all your fears.

A young lady I was stationed with used to look like Dolly Parton. She was also 5' 2" and she was having back pains, shoulder pains, etc. When I saw an old picture of her, I thought I was looking at her sister. She said that no, she had had a breast reduction and felt great about it. I would suggest talking to a REPUTABLE doctor. Ask around first. Maybe a physician could refer you to one. Good luck!

just because you plan to have children doesn't mean you have to breast feed. go to google and put in breast reduction surgery and pregnancy. I had implants put in, I live in mississippi. there is a doctor here that is known nation wide. That is trying to change his practice from a general surgeon to plastic surgery, he does the implants fairly cheap. I am not sure about the cost of reduction. His name is Douglas Bowden. go to google and put in his name and breast surgery. I hope you are as happy with your surgery as I am with mine. He is a true miracle worker. I went from an A to a D. And have no stretch marks at all. Good Luck. M

Breast Reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
