With the dems in control of the house, I think his smirking days are over. He really did an about-face when the republicans lost.

George gets his **** together when he is not lying. When he stops saying what his handler (Cheney) puts in his mouth, he ceases to be arrogant, antagonistic and general prick. Look how he was last election night and the day after when his stuff was handed to him on a platter. Bush is a front man pure and simple for some really scary people. When he is not being the front man, he may actually be human.

I think we have a president who, right in front of our eyes, realizes he is drowning in a sea of political and personal muck and mire created by his own party's image making machine.
It may be dawning on him that there won't be any life boats sent his way. He's not worth saving, and all efforts of the Republican party have turned to look for the new guppy that can be made into a whale.
His legacy will only be a footnote in Carl Rove's political bible tittled "Make sure your candidate has at least a high school equivalency command of the English language".

It was a 20 minute speech. That probably took a month to film. The smirks and shrugs were left on the cutting room floor.

I thought he looked like a deer in the headlights.
Why? My guess is that he was told not to come off as cocky and over confident, and since he doesn't have any other natural persona he just didn't know what to do.

he looked to me like he was very unsure of his own plan.
Well see!!
I don't see how sending 20,000 more troops in is gonna make a differance. Thats how many up we were in the beginning of this war anyways!!
Time will tell!

He almost looked humble. Almost. I know he wasn't though. I believe it was an act.
