No, definitely not... beach sand would contain sand and other minerals and organisms that you don't want in a saltwater tank. I suggest you just buy some sand from a petstore, or get some sand blasting sand or pool filter sand, which would also work just fine.

No! For all those reasons and more. If you really need fine sand for your tank get some filter sand from a swimming pool company, But even clean sand isn't all that good an idea anyway. Good luck. PeeTee

no you cant as beach sand has salt in it way to much for fresh water fish can tolerate but if you soak it for two to three weeks and keep on changing the water every day you may be all right

No not only will it produce algae in your tank but, a fresh water fish can't handle the ph in the sand and it is likely to kill it.

No, but I have a good solution. You can use pool filter sand for your tank. I use PFS and it is great. It costs $7.00-$8.00 for 50lb. It's cheap just make sure you wash it off really good before you put it in. Put it in a pillow case and wash it with a hose for like 10 mins. They sell pool filter sand at litehouse and probably anywhere that sells pool stuff. call around, someone will have it.

I would not recommend it because there is stuff in natural sand that could hurt or kill your fish. My mother-in-law tried to use rocks she got from her local riverbed and it gave the fish a disease that eventually killed them. You would have to clean and sanitize it first and that would be difficult with sand and still may not get it all.

NO - - - Do you want to kill your fish.
The beach sand has a lot of salt in it and people have walked on it, peed on it, food is dropped on it. etc, etc, ect...

Go to the fish store and buy what you want. SAVE THE FISH

you can. I've done it before. Just make sure you do rinse it really well, kind of hard to do but you can.
before you put your fish in, treat the water with antibacterial solution, which you should do anyway.
