Recently in X-Men: Deadly Genesis issue #2, Banshee attempts to save an airplane full of innocents from the mystery villain of the series, who is piloting the X-Men's original jet, the Blackbird. Flying towards it, he attempts to damage the craft's trajectory with a sonic scream. However, his throat has not completely healed, affecting the strength of his scream so that it doesn't affect the jet, which flies straight into Sean. In the next issue, Wolverine and Nightcrawler find Sean's lifeless body and confirm that he and all the civilians died in the crash.

In X-Factor #7, Cyclops delivers the news of Banshee's death to his daughter, Siryn. Siryn is given a video tape that Banshee made for his daughter in the event of his death. In the message, Banshee states that he felt he had done more good than bad in his life, and that he hoped St. Peter would allow him entrance into Heaven. He expresses the hope that he would there be re-united with Siryn's mother. Siryn refuses to believe that Banshee is really dead, citing all of the X-Men in the past who have been presumed dead but later returned. In his will, Sean gave his daughter the family castle—Cassidy Keep—as well as his pipe

Sad day in comic fandom.

Banshee was never a headmaster at the Xavier School (I don't think he was even a teacher) and Banshee is not a psychic so cannot use Cerebro.
As I recall, Banshee died when, flying over the Atlantic (he flew, don't ask me how) he was hit by a plane. There was some silly reason that they killed him off involving saving the world.

Banshee was very briefly the leader of Xavier’s school. (as in the short lived TV series) and also assisted Moira McTaggert to keep the existence of her son (and Xavier’s son) Legion secret from the world. It would not surprise me if he used Cerebro while he was leader.

yes he took over the school when Xavier left to go to space with lilandra. He and Emma frost trained generation x, and they both had access to cerebro(or cerebra).

the problem is that no name only answered one of his questions.. yes banshee was head master but not of the original school but of the one Emma frost used to call her own it took place inthe comice of generation X..

These youngest members of the X-Men family are based in Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, formerly the Massachusetts Academy, the training ground for the Hellions.
Under the tutelage of headmasters Sean Cassidy (Banshee) and Emma Frost (formerly the White Queen) plus the ocassional visiting X-Man, the members of Generation X learn to best utilize their powers to help a world that hates, fears and wants to destroy them. A difficult schedule, but the kids always find a way to have fun (and get into trouble). While the team remains a mix of individuals, many with mysterious pasts, it has on the whole developed into a close-knit and effective force in its short history. Recently, however, the team was shattered during a terrible battle which not all of them survived. A few months later, with both headmasters apparently suffering from recent losses in their lives, the students quit the Academy and went to find their own paths in the world.

As you can see form our web site. http://www.mutanthigh.com/genx.html

and this is from his bio from our web site. Sean served as headmaster for a few years, but the deaths of Synch and then of his estranged lover Moira sent Sean over the edge, Moira's most of all. He began drinking heavily, and due to a confluence of factors, the Academy closed, and Sean went back to Ireland. Weeks later, Sean pulled himself together, quit drinking and founded a powerful militaristic organization(which made no sense see he's was inter pole agent) called the X-Corps in Europe. Using heroes like Multiple Man and Radius (from Alpha Flight), Banshee recruited former villains like Avalanche, Blob and Mastermind II to his cause. Joining him as well were some of his former students. The X-Corps goal was to be paramilitary force that could deal with mutant-instigated violence. Though it had official sanction, other organizations fought against it.

Even more disturbing to the X-Men, who came to see what the X-Corps were doing, was the fact that Banshee effectively imprisoned Mastermind II and was forcing her to use her telepathy to restrain the violent impulses of the "reformed" villains. Worse, Mystique had infiltrated the X-Corps as "Surge" and soon freed Mastermind (and consequently all the other villains), following which she posed as a Madrox and slit Banshee's throat. Meanwhile, the villains killed some of the good members of the X-Corps and wreaked havoc on Paris until they were stopped by the X-Men. The former GenXers in the X-Corps HQ managed to save Banshee's life, but the X-Corps crumbled and Banshee went to a hospital to convalesce and contemplate his actions and their consequences.

Banshee served as a member of the Marauders, a mercenary group hired by the House of M to capture "terrorists" Juggernaut and Nocturne in England. During the fight he was possessed by Nocturne, who used his body to knock out T-Rex.

Following M-Day, Sean was recuperating on the remains of Muir Island. He began to see ghosts of Moira and was led by one apparition to find a video diary Moira had recorded years earlier, before Sean was recruited into the new X-Men team. The video contained a secret Xavier had been keeping, for which Moira hated him. Shocked at his discovery, Sean took a flight to the US, but en route the Blackbird (under a mysterious villain's control) which was the villain and former X-man known as vulcan. attempted to ram the airliner. Sean tried to stop the Blackbird, but could not prevent the collision, nor his own impact on the supersonic plane,

BTW banshee was still injured from mystque slashing this neck duringthe Xcorp period. so could not Fly out of the black bird due that complication to his powers. leading to his death. so it's her fault he's dead as well.
