Take three colors of clay. Roll them out flat then stack on top of each other. Then roll them up like a pumpkin roll. Slice them into thin rounds and press onto a bottle. Once you cover the bottle bake it in the oven on 270 degrees.

It looks really neat and is really easy.

Garbage art - using discarded papers wadded into bunches "sculpt" a shape onto a flat page and use white glue to fix in place. The design can be purposeful like a flower or totally abstract you or they can choose (at this age probably better if it's you). Sewing art is cool too you print a page with a dot to dot on one side and when they finish sewing there is a picture on the other side. The I can't draw project is really neat too-flip a chair upside down and have them follow the lines and not look at it as a chair. Then they flip their page and viola they have drawn a chair. Hope this helps!

I always liked potato prints. You carve out potatoes to act like rubber stamps. Things like hearts or stars are easy. You could use coffee can plastic lids to make shallow pools of different colored cheapo tempera or acrylic paints and make some nice Valentine Day's cards. Construction paper, some glue, maybe some paper doilies that look like lace...you could have the kids make some pretty cool cards!
