My uncle and I went out to Indiana and we both split all of the costs. im 25 and he's about 45 years old. We stayed at my great aunt and uncle's home. The 1st night when we were out there he decided to borrow my car to go to a friends house. It was 8pm, and he said that he would be back in 2 hours or so. He did not come back until 1230am. During the time he was gone, my great aunt was setting up beds and one was a futon. She asked me if I was taller then my uncle and I was taller so she said to take the bed while uncle mike takes the futon. I asked her if she thought if my uncle was ok with it and she said that it would be fine. When he got home at 1230am, he was pissed. He said that I disrespected him by taking the good bed. Do you think I disrespected him by doing that, or do you think what I did was ok? I did not know what category to put this in, sorry.

No, not at all, if anything he's the one who was disrespectful to you. if you are really feel bad than tell him the conversation that your aunt and you had and that your sorry it wasn't your intention to be disrespectful towards him.

Disrespected him? There's a word that gets thrown around a little too often. You'd think an uncle would offer you the better bed, unless he has certain physical ailments; bad back or whatever. Would have been nice for you to take the futon? Sure. Was it wrong to take the bed? No.

If he wanted to have his choice of beds, he should have been home when they were distributed. First in, best dressed. Besides, what about his disrespect to you in asking to borrow your car for 2 hours, then staying gone for more than 4?

He was just mad because he had to sleep on a futon. He should have came home at a descent hour and maybe he would have got the bed. Just ignore it and tell him to get over it.

Hey, don't even worry about it! He's trying to do a power play on you! I would just laugh and tell him if he would of gotten home at the right time, he could of chosen the bed he wanted. You both are adults now, so let him throw his girl fit!!!! I know he's older and all, but he's not that old!!!!! Just make a joke of it, don't act like it's affecting you!!!!!

was your uncle drunk or something when he came in that night? the bed think is totally not a big deal. you were right to get dibs on the bed thing since he was not there at the time. plus he shouldn't have stayed out so long either. don't sweat it.

no,not at all. Seems to me,that he was the disrespectful one, using your car for 41/2 hrs. instead of just 2.

i think you are fine about this. But I mean its his fault cause if he would've been home earlier than maybe he could've been on the bed.I would be mad at him for taking my car out 2 and a half hours later than he said.He deserves the futon. :)

He should just feel fortunate that he had a place to stay at all. you aunt could have locked the door and he could have slept in a lawn chair outside.

I don't think you disrespected him, but it would have been more polite to let your older family member have the bed.
