the commoners reside on the streets with the rats, there are commonly outbreaks of plague and cholera amongst the populations, they scavenge for food among the passing aristocracy, while the females of the class the promiscuous and sell their body for a bid of loose change, they are more cautious after the recent ripper cases, but they still work the streets. the little ones pick the pockets of the gentlemen and nick their farthings and hapennies, i was fortunate enough to find a golden crown on the pavement early one morn, and bought a pastie for me and the wife.

I guess. I recently learned what a chav was and sometimes I wonder if it's similar to some American 'white trash'. Since Americans don't really have that class system, it's hard to say. Anyone can become 'trailer trash' but living in a trailer is part of it. "White trash" is used more often because it can basically be any white person that is somewhat ignorant, obnoxious, tacky, sometimes poor and unsophisticated. If you're white trash, you may have 4 or 5 broken down cars parked all over your yard, dogs running all over the place and some broken lawn furniture. It's a stereotype rather than an actual class issue. There are some people with tons of money who live a 'white trash' lifestyle.
