Math Word Problem Need Help?

Dorothy is running for president of the student body and wants to create campaign posters to hang throughout the school. She has determined that there are four main hallways that need six posters each. A single poster takes one person 30 minutes to create and costs a total of $1.50

When omar went to pruchase his posters, he discovered that cost of creating poster had increased 20%. How many posters will he be able to create if he wants to spend the same amount of money on his posters as dorothy? explain

Dorothy needed six posters each for four hallways

6 x 4 = 24 posters
24 x $1.50 = $36.00 spent by Dorothy

$1.50 x .20 = $.30
New cost of poster is $1.50 + $.30 = $1.80

$36.00 / $1.80 = 20 posters

b) 1.50 + .20 = 1.80
to turn a percent into a decimal divid the % by 100
20 divided by 100 =.20
add the increase to the origonal amount

c) 36 divided by 1.80 = 20

Omar can buy 20 poster
