Yes, they are the same. Glucaphage is the brand and metformin is the generic. (Generics are always lowercased).

Yes, it is. Metformin is the generic and glucophage is the brand name. They may have different fillers, but the medication that does the work is the same. If you are about to go on it, may I suggest the extended release. Wit the extended release you take the whole daily dose at dinner, instead of taking pills throughout the day. I take 2000mg all at once with my evening meal. The extended release would be Metformin ER or Metformin XR and the brand name would be Glucophage XR.

Glucophage is the brand name and metformin is the generic name for the same drug. I am currently taking metformin because it's cheaper.
