this is why i hate politics. some people get way too stuck in their ways and they like to stereotype everyone else. I bet a number of the American people have no idea why America is still in the war anyways. I think more people would suupport it if we knew why America is there. I mean there's a lot of different reasons going around but no one has actually said this is why. We're spending a lot of money funding a war that many people don't know why it's happening. Meanwhile our own country has citizens poor and homeless. I don't really support war at all, but if the number of troops is increase I will support them because I wouldn't want all those soldiers to have died in vain.

The Iraqis need to start fighting for themselves. We are the parents trying to let their child go off and fend for itself in the world... but by sending more troops, we are not teaching them to do so.

And will people stop grouping Democrats with terrorists? All that does is show that you are ignorant to the definitions of both. If either side is a "terrorist," it would be the side making people afraid of voting the other way, saying that if people do vote that way, that we will all die and become weak.

I wonder what side that is...

I'm not a democrat nor a terrorist, but I see some problems with this new plan. First, I don't believe it's enough troops. It should be at least double if not more than what he wants to send. Second, we don't have enough active duty troops to even cover the 20,000 he wants to send without weakening our defenses. Third, he should have done this three years ago, and he knew it then.

It is not just Democrats some Republicans oppose an increase in troops as well.

And Defense Secretary Robert Gates, just three weeks on the job, told the House Armed Services Committee that despite one's view about whether the U.S. should have gone to war in the first place, "There seems to be broad agreement that failure in Iraq would be a calamity for our nation of lasting historical consequence."

Quite a few Republicans also oppose this escalation.

The Democrats speak for the American voters; the terrorists, through Al-Maliki, are playing games with Bush to incite and confuse the already confused Bush!

I agree with Steve C. You're trying to connect Democrats (your own countrymen) with terrorist because they don't share your point of view.

Because Democrats think we should sit there and whine instead of kicking butt and the terrorists wish we would sit there and whine so they could kick our butts.
