I'm trying to play moulin rouge and it plays fine except I can only hear the voices or singing really faintly. it's like a kareoke version of the film. I'd rather sing along than sing it all myself. anyone out there who can help me?
i'm not very computer minded, so dumb it down please

you may have your sound set for surround sound (5 channels) but only be using stereo (2 channels).

You may need to change the sound settings on your PC to setero, try going to control panel > sound and audio devices and click advanced under speaker setup. Your sound card may also have a configuration utility that starts in the windows toolbar.

Another easy way would be to download vlc from http://www.videolan.org it plays dvd and has an audio menu.

Obviously you must try all the settings related to sound, but if that does not work reinstall your driver. To do that right click My Computer, click manage, click Device Manager. Find the DVD on the list and right click it and go down to properties and click it.
Put in the DVD software disk, and click reinstall driver. You may need to browse to the disk and select the driver yourself. That ought to do it.
