Whenever I'm in that situation (for anyone, not just boyfriends) I make a list of everything they like to do. Try to be as specific as possible. As you're making the list you might start to come up with some possible ideas. My boyfriend (who buys everything he wants and is consequently extremely difficult to shop for) just had a birthday and I did the same thing for him. The list was ridiculously long, but I ended up buying him season 1 of Stella, an incredibly stupid sitcom that lasted only 10 episodes. Anyway, he absolutely loved it. He said that it was one of the most thoughtful gifts anyone had ever bought him and that he wouldn't even have thought of buying himself that. So give it a try-- maybe you'll come up with the perfect gift! Good luck!

Go to the craft store and buy those pretend eyes, you know they are glued on stuffed animals? They are white with the black dot thing inside them and when you shake them they jiggle. Put them in a little gift box with a note glued to it on the inside which reads. I only have eyes for you. Get a can of his favorite nuts, peanut, cashew etc and then wrap that and put a note on the can that reads, just nuts about you. Buy a pillow and pin on it a note...I just want to think you for filling my mind with daydreams during the day and sweet dreams during the night. I hope I do the same for you. Buy fortune cookies and gently remove the forture and write your own fortunes and put them in the cookies. Use just one "birthday" candle and place it into a small gift box and write a note in it saying...I pray one wish for you this year is one we share together. And that is that our love grow only deeper with each passing day. Send chocolate kisses..etc etc etc ..Ok now this is the best part. Have a friend deliver them one by one (seperatly) to his home. Perhaps use more than one friend each time. And people he doesn't know so it looks more professional and mysterious. P.S. Don't sign the notes. When they are done giving him the presents. They you arrive carrying his favorite food. Be it a Big Mac or italian or whatever. Sit him down in his favorite chair and feed it to him using your hand (yep no forks/spoons etc) while kneeling down in front of him. I assure you being married to the same man for a millions years with 13 grandkids, you will be giving a birthday present he will never forget.

Well you should know his likes and dislikes if he is your boyfriend.
If you want a personal gift.
Give him his favorite movie on DVD and then make him dinner.
Have wine since he is 21 now.
But if you want it to be something else.
Since 21 is a big deal then throw him a surprise party.

Ask him to write you out a list of things he wants, and pick one or two things from the list. Or get him a CD of his favourite band, a DVD of his favourite movie, or a T-shirt with your picture on it (funny).

sex is a great way to start a good birthday then take him to the bars because he's 21 now and then more sex..... let him do what ever he wants.....
