Ok, so I have several re-occuring dreams. Some don't bother me. But one part of some of my dreams does bother me. I have a fake world in my dreams. But it is always the same fake city. All the roads are always the same, the store, food places, the house I live in, ect. The weird thing is I have never been there, and it is not a place I have ever seen. Is that normal?

The other part to my question is about a dream I had last night. I was in my fake neighborhood, driving. I was approaching a park and a Mung family was having a pinic, several people. There was a group of young African American boys walking towards them. One of the boys pulled out a gun and shot of the kids with the family, and he died on the spot. I stopped my car and tried to call 911, but it would only call the 9th number in my speed dial. I was sobbing in my dream, and I woke up crying. I can see this over and over in my head. Anyone have any ideas on what this means???

I often have dreams where I return to places I have dreamed of before, but where I have never been in waking life. It just means that you have a vivid dreaming capability. I bet that like me your dreams are actually fairly normal, in the sense that most of what happens is fairly logical. For example, the dream you described could almost really happen. I suggest you should try lucid dreaming where you dreams will become even more real.

While I apologize as I won't be able to answer the part of your question regarding the analysis of your dream, I assure you your dreams are entirely normal! While sleeping, your brain is actually working more than while in a wakeful state. Much about the cause, manifestation, and interpretation of dreams is, well, unknown. The study of the brain is one of the most complicated areas of study (Ever hear anyone say "Come on! I'm not a brain surgeon!" Rocket scientists get this a lot too).

However, while the science of analyzing and understanding dreams is still a fuzzy area at best, we know that bizarre dreams and dreams that incorporate unknown places are fine and normal. Your brain, as per our best guess, is "sorting" out your day into the appropriate place. There's bound to be confusion, review of places you've been, and an amalgamation of experiences in your recent past.

Hope that helped! give the wiki article in my sources a read if you'd like to know more!

I think your dream shows that you are a very caring person who's deeply troubled by the random violence in our lives. You're not prejudiced against minority ethnic groups, as evidenced by the fact that even though you were out of your element in a strange neighborhood/city you risked your own safety at the scene of a violent crime to come to the aid of a Hmong (is that what you were trying to say?) child. Your description of the shooter as an African American boy could indicate that despite the fact that you have been influenced by persistent negative stereotypes in our society you struggle against those stereotypes and try to be fair and impartial. You didn't use any foul racist names to describe the shooter. You simply stated in a matter of fact manner what you saw. Then, after risking your life to help, you express the utter frustration and despair that many of us who love our neighbor as ourselves feel because there sometimes seems to be nothing we can do to stop the violence or ease the pain of those suffering from it's effects. The child was already dead. The phone wouldn't work right. Sometimes about all we can do is set our own moral compass to a point where we ourselves "do no harm", and we show empathy for and try to comfort the victims. At least we can validate them as fellow humans and let them know that they matter, and that somebody cares.
I'm not a shrink or a psychologist or anything. I just care about people, and that's what your dream says to me.

First, yes it is normal to dream of places you've never been or seen before. That's only your imagination working. Your imagination can create some wild things through dreams.

Second, certain situations in your dreams where something bad is happening, and you try to help but can't, could mean numerous things. One, could be from something you saw on the news maybe or heard a story from someone else....Even though you didn't think too hard about it at the time your subconscious did, and it came out in your dream as not being able to help someone in trouble (or in the case of the dream, someone who died). There are alot of dream analyzing websites like the post above mine.....also alot of books out there about this subject

It's interesting how our minds work when we're sleeping. It will take things that have happened to us, things that we've personally seen and things we've seen on the news or just heard about and mix them all together. This is actually normal, so don't be upset. :-)

This neighborhood could be someplace that your mind came up with because perhaps it's better than your own neighborhood in some way (like wishful thinking-another common thing for dreams). The shooting could be similar to something you saw on the news, and not being able to help or call for help could symbolize a fear you have.

Dreams dont necessarily mean what exactly they say all the time. The sobbing may be to do with some form, whether it be a big scale or a small scale of emotions. This re-occuring dream you have, and you say you have never been there. i have had the same type of thing before! again this represents different types of emotions!
