I would imagine you mean Ian McCullen (I don't think I spelled his last name correctly)? He's the one that played Magneto on the X-Men movies and I didn't know that he died.

Oh, Ian (Iran? HA HA) McKellan is not quite dead yet! He's 68 and still very active in movies and on the stage. Great actor!
