It depends on who it is and what I'm doing at the time they arrive. If it is a close friend or family member I enjoy it...if it is someone I do not know terribly well...than I'm not terribly excited about the interruption.

Yes, I find when someone unexpectedly appears at my door, ready to visit, its way up on the annoyance ladder. I like to make sure that I've freshened up the bathroom first, and at least done a quick vacuuming in the main sitting area. There are usually a few dishes that need to be either put away, or cleaned. I'm not a slob, but if I'm not expecting anyone, then those little nuisances sit on the side, until I can casually get to those chores. If I know guests are coming, then I would for sure, tend to the overall aesthetic appearance, just to make myself feel comfortable.

I don't think it would be so bad if a guests were to only drop by for a few minutes, perhaps to pick something up, yet most of my guests tend to stay a bit longer. I always prefer a phone call, to ensure that I am going to be home, and that I can accommodate them with leisure time, and I'm don't have other priorities. I think that is the right thing to do, and the polite thing to do. Otherwise, I might pretend to not be at home, when someone comes calling.

I've been known to hate when people unexpectedly drop in on occasions.

Yes, because I'm always in the middle of something. This morning I was on YA and a friend dropped in right when I was in the middle of typing an answer and it was frustrating because I lost my train of thought. Fortunately this friend was a Christian and so gave me some further insight on my answer.

Depends on my mood at the time but it would be nice to have a quiet night with the family and if you plan it that way you always get guests but when you could do with it you never get guests

YES I hate that, I had a brother that was always doing this and I work two jobs. He would pop in after I put in a 12 hour day and expect me to be all chatty!!
My son had a fight with him and now he never pops in.

All of my friends know that they either need to call first - or show up with an unexpected present! And they follow my rule very well.

I am the most gracious host when I expect you.

Yes. People should have consideration to call first in case you have plans.

It's exciting but I usually look like crap because I'm in my pajamas so I'm uncomfortable. I don't care for it.
