Assuming your present sound card and software work well for you, then there's no sense in installing different software for it. The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies.

If you want better sound, get a better soundcard. I am ssuming you have the SB16 and are looking to upgrade it somehow... Just buy an Audigy or Audigy2 on the cheap!

Audigy is VERY Good, and it runs on higher grade, if not better, sound drivers as well as better hardware. More RAM on the Audigy as well. It should also recognise DTS on DVDs which SB16 ( as good as it was then ) does not.

Are you talking about changing software, cards, or both? Something doesn't make sense to me. You mention software but then mention hardware.
