Spotting during early pregnancy can be normal. If it's the consistency of your regular periods, then you're probably not pregnant. All throughout your pregnancy, it's also normal to have some slight bleeding (spotting) after a vaginal exam or after having intercourse. Bright red bleeding is always a sign that something is wrong.
Take a pregnancy test to be sure if you're pregnant or not.

You can still have a couple periods after becoming pregnant that not a bad thing. Buy if it last longer the doctor may put you on bedrest and run tests to see why. My mom did that while pregnant with my sister, she was in bed 5 months but it turned out fine.

When I was pregnant with my first son, I had a period during the first month of pregnancy. The doctor mentioned its a way for your body to get rid of the extra blood in your uterus.

the uterus filld with blood to make a nice "home" for the egg to attach to. If there is no fertalized egg, then the blood drains out of the uterus, voila!
I'm not sure why some women bleed during pregnancy. its usualy not a full blown period, more usually spotting, which could mean there is a tear in the uterine lining.
