i do alot of reading on this particular subject and am just curious to see what others think and feel too. it seems to me that women go on them to help something or prevent something- ovulation because of cysts, pregnancy, acne, whatever, and all they end up with is more physical, emotional and sometimes psychological problems. why are so many women going on them. yes, some pills do have "low" side effects, but it is something that will always have something negative attached with it. i wasn't always against the pill. i was on it for 2 and 1/2 years and had bad side effects like most do. then, i discovered that it was better before them. is anyone in aggreeance with me here that birth control pills are not good for you? thanks for your input!

i personally think anything that stops something that was meant to happened like pregnancy is just unnatural and unsafe. I read that they can have side affects that can cause Blood Clots that is a serious side affect. I believe that you should go through things the natural way and if you don't want to get pregnant (and by the way they don't protect you from STDs anyway) You should choose another method or stay absence So I am on you side and agree with you Unsafe and Unnatural !

Hi, you asked for input so here's mine, not saying that my opinion is all that matters! First of all I never wanted to take a birth control pill but now I do because my boy friend and I are totally not ready for kids! Marriage first and careers! In my case I've had no side effects from "the pill." I think birth control can be good and bad for a person! Some cause serious side effects such as blood clots, heart problems, and ever worse DEATH! That was the major question on my mind when I first decided to start "the pill." So I think it's all up to the person! Birth control is a personal choice!

I went on BC cause I have really bad periods. I helped but I think its unnatural.( How are pills that are man made natural? I never understood that If it were natural, you should have it in your body already)

I went off of it and a year ago stared back up. I get chest pains do to stress and the BC only aggravted this and made the pains more frequent. I won't take the BC because I'm afriad of the 'unknown' side affect that may come up years from now. Plenty of meds have that crap happen. So I'd rather deal with the bad pain and sickness every month than subject my body to something I'm unsure of.

It depends on the woman. In many cases, a woman benefits enough from very easily preventing pregnancy, to justify the (small) risk to her health from contraceptives. In many other cases, the risk of adverse consequences of the hormones is not worth the benefit of convenient birth control. It's really hard to know; thank goodness it's each woman's choice whether to take it or not!

I don't take it because in my family, women have gotten migraines and cystic ovaries that were probably associated, and when I did try it for 3 months to treat my acne, I was so depressed I almost stopped going to work. Not worth it for me, especially when my boyfriend was willing to be conscientious about condoms.

Besides, I am one of those nutflakes who'd rather find a way to avoid ingesting chemicals whenever possible. You never know what the long term effects are going to be.

I have been on them for a little more than 2 years and I have had emotional side effects, mostly mood swings. On the other hand, the pain during my period has gotten a lot better, it used to knock me out for 2 days, now I am just in a little pain for one. The stuff I am on is pricey and hard to find sometimes, so I am going to switch soon. I noticed some weight gain when I went on the pill, I hated that, but with the weight gain I got bigger boobs. And even though the mood swings are annoying I like being able to be intimate with my boyfriend anytime without the need for preperation.

i've read a lot too, but personally i havent had any problems with it. i've been on them for almost 8 years now, i needed them to regulate my period. i would go almost 3 months straight bleeding. my doc tested me over and over and it was just that i was iregular. and the pill was the only thing that fixed it. thankfully i got some good side effects from it, less cramping, less period!, helped with the acne and now i know when i'm going to get it, almost to the hour! of course every now and then i have break thru bleeding.

my mom has been on them for about 15 years straight, no sugar pills. she has endometriosys and had to have a partial hysterectomy and they put her on a steady stream of birth contol so she wouldnt get her period anymore and cause more scaring. she's had no problems. she just wishes they would know when she goes thru menopause without having to just take her off of them and find out!

I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS SERIOUSLY!! (They can be good for some, bad for others)

I developed cysts in my liver that were painful and they almost burst which could have led to my death from some kind of shock (so they said to me)...so yeah I agree that they just might be bad for you too.

In case anyone wants to know, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen (and followed all instructions to a T) from the time I was 16 to last year...when I was 26. I tried "the patch" for a few months but that only seems to make things worse.

I started to feel side effects like naseau, vomiting, (I tried the low dose version), etc. after 1 year but it was so inconsistent I didn't think much of it nor did my Dr. Then....years later...ouch! Cysts in my liver! So if you are on them and feel anything...you should look into it and take it seriously.

PLUS side to BC pills:
- I did not get pregnant
- I had shorter periods with less pain/discomfort

DOWNSIDE to BC pills
- Side effects can and do happen (like bruising easily, nausea, etc.)
- Your body starts to produce less of it's own hormones

I am not in aggreeance. If you read a bottle of tylenol it will tell you that there are a lot of side-effects due to taking it...but people don't read that *&%$ and it doesn't happen. It's more harmful to have an unwanted pregnancy.

No, it is a personal choice. I have been on them my entire adult life. Now I am in my 50's. My periods are very regulated, last about a day and a half, no cramps, no PMS, no side affects, and it has worked very well for me, thank god. I was able to plan my family with no accidents. They have been a godsend to me.

Not everyone has bad side-effects. People who don't take them correctly have bad side-effects. If you're responsible you'll be fine unless your body can't take that many hormones. Estrogen and Progestin are both NATURAL hormones. It's not like we're taking anabolic steriods.

So no, I don't agree with you.
