my neice who lives with me will be celebrating her 18th birthday on march 22nd. i want to make it a big deal since neaither her mother or father will be here to celebrate this one with her. any ideas on something that she would really like?

See if you can get a hold of a couple of her friends, have them meet you at a restaurant and surprise her for dinner - ask the restaurant if you can bring a cake, and flowers to help make her moment special, then maybe out to the movies or shopping.
Also: take lots of pictures for her to remember her special day.
