Apparently I cannot sensibly advise you, but I love a challenge...
based on your given list, let us go for -
every book by Guy Gavriel Kay, starting with Tigana.
The Abhorsen trilogy, by Garth nix.
At least the first 9 "Xanth" books by Piers Anthony.

OK. Let us get thrillerish...
try every Desmond bagley book.
Look up James Clavell, starting with Shogun.

Let us get odd...
Try the Flashman series by George MacDonald Fraser, historical fiction with humour - and yes, the odd fact. Risk it!

Humourwise, go for PG Wodehouse "Jeeves" series.

Classics - are all worth it, you don't get a good rep for nothing. Surprise yourself with "Crime and Punishment" or "The Mayor of casterbridge", both good yarns.

And something strange...
Try the Falco books by Lindsay Davis (in order, starting with The Silver Pigs".

That lot should have something of everything and last a year easy! If you like Donaldson, I am pretty sure you can take it though.

Good luck, Steve.

There are lots of great classics out there that you can by really cheaply from the Penguin Classic range.

I recommend the following

Dracula
Frankenstein
Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Around the World in 80 days
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

I just started Gullivers Travels and it is brilliant.

If you like Crime books with a fast pace and great twists then I recommend the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver. You may have seen the film of the Bone Collector - this is first Lincoln Rhyme book. The series gets better and better.

If you take my advice regarding purchasing a few of the Penguin Classics be sure to avoid Last of the Mohicans - it is utter tripe and a real struggle to read.

I'd say The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

It's set in Spain, and follows the main character as he tries to discover the mysteries behind a book he has. It's more interesting than that sentence probably suggests -but I like Philip Pullman and David Mitchell, and I liked this too. It's really excellent writing, and a great plot.

Try reading either of Charles Frazier's novels, Cold Mountain or Thirteen Moons. He is an amazing writer with a beautiful grasp on the English language. I fall in love with every sentance. I love the way he describes things! His books will be classics someday.

I don't like non-fiction either.

Depends on what level you read.

I really enjoyed this series and it comes in a young readers format and an adult version format. There is also a new edition of the first one that just came out.

The Golden Compass-Philp Pullman
The Subtle Knife-Philp Pullman
The Amber Spy Glass-Philp Pullman

hey - i'm enjoying thrillers at the moment, detective stories by many authors. I work in a library and a reader recommended "Pretty girl gone" by David Housewright. No idea at the moment what it's like, but if I get it read in the next couple of days, before this question runs out of time, will let you know?

These are really great books I have read. I know more, but I can't remember them all and I don't know your reading level.

It is kind of hard to recommend books without knowing your interests. If you like mild mystery with a little bit of romance Carla Neggars is good. Another good writer is Fern Michaels. Her latest series of books about women getting revenge is excellent. It starts with Road Warriors.and then Payback,Vendetta, Sweet Revenge.
