You mean the old one, with Patty McCormack in the title role? Man, talk about a trumped up Hollywood ending. In Maxwell Anderson's stage play, the ending is much more chilling: Her dad is grieving over his wife's suicide during the funeral reception. Then someone reminds him that he didn't lose everything, and he says something like, "Yes, I didn't lose my little girl. Thank God they were able to pump out her stomach in time" - and Rhoda (Patty) returns to the stage. They exchange lines used earlier in the play:
"What would you give me for a basket of kisses?" says Rhoda.
"For a basket of kisses? Why, I'll give you a basket of hugs!" says her father, and they hug.
And those are my favorite lines - the ones you DIDN'T hear in the movie because of that hokey Hollywood ending.

Give me back my shoes, Leroy!
I loved that! That little girl was off the hook. Did you ever see the remak with David Cariddean (sp?) as the janitor? It was good too. I think it was made in the 80's.
