MAC has a studiofix compact. It's the best out there and its what i use. MAC makeup is good because its a theatrical makeup that's meant for being in the spotlight so it does well in pictures, etc. You'll be pleased with the results.

You're right. The flash will reflect off of powder or anything with sunscreen in it making you look very pale. When I have photo shoots, I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse (basically the same as Lancome's mousse and a fraction of the price) without powder. The coverage is great and it is beautiful in photos. Try it the next time you know you'll be photographed.

Strictly for pictures, do not wear powder. The light of the flash reflects off the minerals and "luminous" qualities of the powder.
Also, if you are going to have pictures taken, apply your makeup a little heavier than usual. Color is much lighter in photos than in real life. Cheek color and lip color fade under flashes. Eyes tend to look smaller, or sunken. Neatly line your eyes, apply an extra coat of mascara, dab on a touch more blush and lip color, and go for it.

Yeah it has something to do with the lighting not your makeup. However try wearing some blush and mascara ... just a tiny bit .... maybe that will bring some more colour to your skin then the picture wont look ghosty. Good luck and happy posing

If you find out...let me know! I hate the way I look in pics..I always look like I need a tan and my eyes always look like I've been punched in the eyes even when I'm not wearing alot of mascara or any of that. I guess just ease up on the makeup..take a pic of what you look like without make up, and add a little more and more make up and compare the pics and see which ones you like best.

make up for photos are different than everyday makeup. i love to use hyper reel make from mac refracts the flash well. it has a slight shimmer to give a healthy glow. it also wears well as it is silicone base. if you want something more matte, just use mac's oil free foundation. their prodicts are made for the cameras and can be worn everyday.
another key is to punch it up alittle. light make up does not work. use natural but stronger tones. i like browns in the crease with vanilla base and shimmery highlight on the brow bone. the shimmer highlights are the tip. use finely milled shimmer powders for this....like bobbi browns' shimmer brick or laura mercier's stardust. use this on your brow bone, top of your cheek bone, dotting the inner corner of the eyes, and running a light line down the centre of your nose. these are all tips celebs use and i use them on my brides. if you want to use warm colours try plums, coppers or bronze/ golds on your eyes. lots of mascara to make your eyes pop.
i prefer lipstick with gloss over it for pics. the gloss placed in the centre of your lips will make it look full and pouty. try rich berried, plums or a soft beige pink...nars dolce vita lipstick and bobbi brown's gloss in pink beige.

I learned from my beauty pageant friends that you have to apply make up a little darker for pictures. That means use some bronzer and line your eyes a little heavier than usual, a little more blush, and so on.
