I was told one time that you can tell by the second hand.If it goes around in a smooth motion it is real .If it ticks(moves then stops moves than stops) it's not real.I don't know for a fact that 's true.

The most obvious thing to look for is the sweep second hand. The second hand on a real Rolex actually moves 5 times per second - as such it appears to be smoothly "gliding" around the face. The imitations do not have this level of sophistication and as such you will see the second hand "Ka-Chunk" by in distinct one-second intervals. The other telling factor is the weight - real Rolexs are quite heavy compared to regular watches. It doesn't feel any different from a regular watch - it probably is.

a couple of things, first is the second hand, a real rolex just glides across the face it does not click every second off, the second is the quality of the overall product, if it fells cheap and looks cheap then it probably is, a rolex is heavy duty and great quality, nothing is spared in the quality of a rolex all of hte edges of the face are perfect, everything lines up beautifully, fakes tend to cut these corners, the faces are slightly off center, not much but enough.

You can tell by the weight because Rolex watches are heavy. Sometimes the word Rolex will be spelled wrong but also, real rolex watches have serial numbers and most can be traced so take it to a jewler and try your luck.

Send the watch to Rolex or take it to a dealer. When in doubt, it usually means your source is in doubt. Ask to have the watch verified or to take it to an authorized merchant. If you get a no, move on. It's not worth it. Also, if you go to the Rolex homepage and click on "legal notice" on the bottom, you'll get more info.

The most common way is the sweep hand....it fakes it "ticks", in real Rolexes it moves smoothly. Metal content too-it should say the gold karats as opposed to no indication of the metal. Here's a good site to help you: http://www.bernardwatch.com/content/fakesub/

Pretty much the way you would tell real jewelery from fake. You would have to look closely (especially if its not a cheap knock-off) at the diamond settings, placement of the numerals, and other details. Imperfections in area's like this are a tell-tale sign its a FARBE (a.k.a.- Far Be It from Authentic)

Take it to a jewler.

If its a cheap knockoff it shouldt be too hard to tell. If it feels very light, its fake. If Rolex is misspelled, its fake.
