Anyone? Anyone?

Let's see. We've got him saying that the Iraqis are going to have deadlines which must be met during the development of their country, or they "risk losing American support."

Yet... he has stated that we will NOT pull out of Iraq before Iraq is ready to stand on its own.

So what, exactly, is the consequence for the Iraqis if they don't meet these deadlines? They are currently enjoying the support and protection of the world's most powerful military. With no consequences for not meeting these deadlines, what is their motivation for accomplishing anything?

It sounds like our forces will be working much more closely with Iraqi forces. Also the Iraqi government previously did not want American troops to go into certain neighborhoods in Baghdad, like Sadr City, which in turn, became a safe haven for those trying to fight American and Iraqi forces, they are now going to allow American troops to enter these areas to secure them.

I think this is the last effort here by the President to try to make something positive come out of Iraq. The President's legacy will probably be determined by our success or failure in Iraq. We will see if this pays off or not here in the next few months.

Other than putting more targets on the ground it seems like he kept the ship on the same collision course that it has been on for the last few years.

I didn't see the speech as I was at my oldest boy's wrestling match and we didn't get home till after 10pm...

Bush's new plan is the same as the old plan, sending people to die for the war he started.

I don't think he really has a plan, to me he is just winging it day by day.

As soon as we have a new president a new plan will be made and withdrawal of troops will begin.
