FYI, Dr. Pepper comes in a caffeine free version. I saw it at Safeway.com, and I know that it's available in other places, 'cause my Father-In-Law drinks it.

A little Dr. Pepper should be just fine!! I also wanted to suggest that there are also non diet caffeine free sodas. Unfortunately not in Dr. Pepper though. Things like Pepsi (not the regular one =) it's in the same can but has a gold ring around the rim) root beer, sierra mist......and actually lots of others. If you can go back-in-forth between Dr. Pepper and a non-caffeine soda it will help you calm your craving with out taking in as much caffeine. Good Luck!!

It is true that caffeine isn't the best thing for the baby, but also take into consideration that soda has a lot of sugar which is bad for you too. Too much sugar intake can lead to gestational diabetes. I drank a lot of pepsi before I was pregnant and it's hard to not crave one now. I allow myself a little bit about once a week or so. I've noticed though that even if I'm craving it I'll only take a few drinks before I'm done and then my body craves water.
Congratulations and good luck!

Lol drink it. I have a terrible coke addiction and I know you need to limit caffene but there isn't THAT much in dr.pepper. I drink a 20 oz bottle and a 12 oz can at least everyday. You can get away with having like 2 cups of coffee and that is TOO much because that's like 300 mg. Cokes only have like 40, 1 cup coffee is like 140. Honey it'll be ok it won't hurt the baby drink it the cravings are bad I know.

Wrong. If you like coffee, one cup a day isn't harmful.
I drink Pepsi like crazy, well actually, with my first i drank alot of pepsi and the only downfall is you can get dehydrated pretty quickly. With my 2nd i got smart and drank only one cup a day and the rest was water, OJ and milk and did wonderful and with this one, pepsi gives me bad bad reflux so i have maybe one cup every 3 or 4 days - but it doesn't hurt as long as you drink plenty of water still and stay hydrated and remember, during pregnancy you're at a higher risk for infections so my doctor always recommends cutting down to reduce this factor.

No actually all the baby stuff says you can have 2 to 3 cans of pop a day. I had major cravings and am with this one too. I drank 2 or 3 a day with DD and she's fine. Even had a beer once a month or so. Everything in moderation except for smoking. That's completely off limits!!!

If your doctor says stay away from caffine Girl stay away from Dr Pepper or any other soda containing caffine. May be they have caffine free Dr. Pepper. I'm not even a woman and stay away from Soda. I think of it this way. If I drink soda it does not do me any good. It only enriches the soda companies. so why do I raise my blood pressue. I do enrich the coffee or tea companies because I drink one cup of tea or coffee every day.

Stay away from Soda even if you are not pregnant.

Its different for all women and in my pregnancies i stop drinking any kind of soda, chili, lemon, and anything sour, salt only if need, ate mostly fruits, vegetables, chicken, turkey, some kind of fish, lentils and beans, soups, tortillas bread, and well it was a pretty balanced meal, with lots of water and exercises, and my kids were born clean with out that white egg raw skin and they were mostly very quiet and that's mostly because of my diet, and the exercise i went into labor at 1:30am and had her at 1:45am so the exercise went well on both, and i mean exercise in both ways, walk everyday in the afternoon for maybe 30min to 1hr, and with him every other day we stayed active most of the pregnancy well he cant get me pregnant more than once at a time right!

You are suppose to stay away from caffeine, but I can't see one glass of Dr. Pepper causing any problems. When I was pregnant with my son I wanted chocolate. I would treat myself to a small amount once and awhile.

I am 38 weeks along and have been drinking coke, root beer, sprite....no, one bottle of soda will not hurt. I try to drink non-caffeine but once in a while will not hurt the baby. I also drink brewed Iced-tea occasionally. Baby is fine!! :)
