Suprise according to the USA government census 95th percentile lower limit $150,499.

In other words if you make $150,499 or more you are in the top 5% of household incomes in theUnited States. Half the country earns $41,000 or less.

Not 100% sure about this, but I heard you'd have to be worth over $10 million to be in the top 5%. My source of information may have been unreliable though -- according to this particular study I'm in the top 30% of Americans in terms of annual income because I make more than $50,000.00 a year (?!?!!!?!?!??!?!!)

1 million dollars, there are about 259 million Americans. 5% would be 12.4 million people that would have to be billionaires according to some peoples answer.
